Variety is important to your creativity routine. Doing different crafts keeps your interest peaked and your mental and physical faculties SHARP! That’s why I’m offering up more treasures from the vault in September.

  • I’ve got some NEW coloring sheets I found that will turn your mind inside out with their exciting complexity!
  • There are also 3-D felt kits that are truly wondrous! The box makes the kit look like some tiny little thing, when in actuality, the project is the size of a small pillow! Amaze!
  • Also I’ve got some scratch canvases, some black velvet mini posters for coloring, and really just a lot of cool stuff.

September is the last month before we begin the last quarter of the year, so let’s savor these last weeks of summer before the equinox kicks in, as the tomato harvest dwindles, and the apples are at their tastiest. The lowriders have returned to cruise Whittier Boulevard, nocturnal urban skunks galumph up and down Echo Park’s neighborhood street curbs, and the churro man in Boyle Heights fries and distributes churros as he whistles the same tune his grandfather used to whistle.

CraftNight would like a moment to welcome the Rams back to LA, and their first game was just terrible, but whatever. If you don’t care about football, CraftNight would also like to welcome the brand new spire on Wilshire Grand Center, making it a whole 81 feet taller than the US Bank Building! If you don’t care about football or buildings, continue reading below, maybe something will catch your eye.

Feminist Acting Class starting this Friday at the Womens Center for Creative Work
Feminist Acting Class is a series of experiments to determine if the form of an acting class can be made feminist, in addition to the content. Part art project, part intellectual experiment and part dynamic physical practice, Feminist Acting Class wants to expand the roles for women, transgender and nonbinary people in theatre and the way that we approach these roles. Taught by Gina Young: queer feminist playwright, director and performer whose work has been seen all over the US and Europe!

We give away TONS of free information to social media sites, public spaces, and other places that have cookies, cameras, satellites, bugs, biometrics and god knows what else. NOT TONIGHT!!!! Keep people out or keep yourself in with a Star-shaped door hanger made by YOU at CraftNight!

CraftNight supports your right to have secret meetings, political thoughts, artistic ideas, experimental labs, subversive dance studios, wild sex dungeons, basically: exploring on your own time in your own space to be anything you want however you want to do it without anyone intruding on that process!

We have the doorknob hangers, they are foamy, friendly and fantastic. We will also have all the things for you to glue to it, so very many things! Lots of it is shiny, all of it is colorful.

Hang up your doorknob sign. Retreat into a space of your own and just be a person. You should support your fellow person’s wish to also not be monitored by you, and everyone else in the world. You can write “Come on in” or “Get the hell outta here and don’t bother me!”

We’ve got necklaces necklaces, that’s what we’ve got! I separated bead clusters into lil’ kits, and you can pick which one you want! The pieces are bright and plasticky and will delight your inner ferret (you know, bright shiny objects, OOOOH PRETTY!). To accompany the candy-like baubles in your personal necklace kit will be even MORE colorful kickshaw to pick from on the counter of craft smorgasbord supplies!

I do declare, should you make and wear a necklace at CraftNight, your creation will undoubtedly act as an external arbitrary force affecting human affairs! You WILL get the promotion, your ice cream WILL stay ensconced in its cone, love letters and accolades will pile up at your door! SUCCESS! Come in and make a thing!

CraftNight is your friendly, weekly, arty opportunity to get to know yourselves and others through casual creative pursuit. But were you aware that CraftNight works under the umbrella of an arts non-profit called SparkleBlob? Underneath that umbrella are other happenings throughout the year, and our next endeavor approaches for the fall season, it’s called Gothtober.

The Gothtober Countdown Calendar is a curated time-release flash-based online museum of 31 works of art by 31 different contributors. The official run of the show is from October 1st to the 31st, a new piece being revealed with each day of the month.The best way to see what it is though, is by visiting it!

Gothtober is looking for contributors, and applications are open until August 29th! We’re looking for recipes, comics, tiny weird short films, music, slideshows, animations, crafts, performance, and whatever else you can think up! It’s kind of like entering a film festival, but the content is multimedia.

Every age group and every level of experience is welcome to be a part of this annual collection of virtual treats, and we’re always looking for new blood. Find out more below:

Sam Pancake’s (almost) one-man show featuring character monologues, storytelling and songs (featuring Sir Steven Wishnoff on the piano) performed in the intimate, air-conditioned, alcoholic-beverage allowing Cavern Club Celebrity Theatre nestled within the bowels of the historic Casita Del Campo Restaurant in Silverlake CA.

PIPES in the PARK 
A few of of our crafters happen to be hot, talented BAG-PIPING individuals! Some of them make up the totally amazing and wonderful PASADENA PIPES. Enjoy pipe band performances from the Pasadena Scottish Pipes & Drums Grade 3 band and the Kevin R. Blandford Memorial Pipe Band Grades 3 and 5, as they prepare for competition at the Pleasanton Highland Gathering and Games on Labor Day weekend.

Crafter’s Delight this evening, I have some very special crafts, but I don’t have a LOT of them. If you drop in, you might just get one, they are seriously rad. I’m using rad genuinely without a hint of irony, I am excited about these, they are enviable.
They are a bit 3-D, special edition kits, I purchased them in a whirlwind of excitement and impulse. There are multiple parts. They are simple to make, but very satisfying. It’s a mystery, isn’t it?

I hope it peaks your interest, because it’s so worth it to come and see what you’ll get.

We’re in for a joyful evening of music, cocktails, crafts, and hopefully, if we get the DVR working right… some Summer Olympics! Hawt Bods, twirling, running, winning, losing, crying, laughing, oh the spectacle of it all!

How do you feel about ducks, beavers, cupcakes, unicorns, foxes, squirrels, and owls?

This is what we’re bringing for you this evening, and these little kits sport some seriously great dimensionality. They’re like… almost 3D, but not, but they really pop, and they’re made out of felt, they look like summer, they seem like fun. They are fun. You’re fun!

We hand-packed these kits, they are in little bags that we filled at the dining room table while drinking iced coffee and listening to peppy electronical musical songs. The kits were packed with energy, which means, by osmosis, you will probably glean some energy from the power of these kits, and be able to tackle all of your goals and tasks of life with aplomb.

These kits are designed to give you that breezy light feeling that comes with picnics by the water, national parks, s’mores by the fire, and cocktails with friends.

Did I say cocktails with friends? Why yes, I do believe I did!
