Days are shorter, nights are longer, it’s the perfect weather for meeting new friends or looking up old friends and spending time with both. It’s a bonus night where, if you show up, you’ll not just get a sumptuous bead craft depicting maize, but also an owl pennant that says “Happy Harvest” and instantly makes you smile because it’s so powerful. Both of these items are so engaging and without pretense, that you’ll forget your analysis and embrace their cuteness. They do that.

Next week, there’s some Queer Self Defense, Hand Turkeys, Bingo, and Raucous Pie Party Plans, so check out the lower part of this bulletin to see what’s in store for your month of November goodness.

OMG GAME SEVEN!!!!

We have it playing at the bar, and if your nerves are on edge, come in and watch the game while sipping a COCKTAIL! And we’re celebrating a certain bird this month, but not the bird you’re imagining… it’s an owl, and it’s on a lil’ banner/pennant type thing, perfect for hanging on your door, or wherever else you need a Fall Reminder. I’ve got all the sparkly gee gaws to go with it, you just gotta make one!

Because it finally feels like FALL!

Notes notes notes, little pieces of paper all over the place and nothing to control it!
Whatever will you do?
However shall you survive?
Never fear, CraftNight is here, with a remedy for wayward papers! Come on in, paint up your clothespin, apply a magnet, and voila: notes organized!

NOW THEN: A lot of hate has been bubbling to the surface of our nation, in a way that is terribly discouraging. Please come in and use your Akbar, your CraftNight. We are a location specializing in tolerance and acceptance. Akbar is a space of love, and very reasonably priced cocktails.

We’re a fabulously queer community hub, and we’ll not let the vile dumbness of hatred and bigots seep into our sequins, no we will not. We are not strangers to this battle, and we’re doubling down to stick up for ourselves and each other. Because the shit storm isn’t on the way, it’s not coming, it’s here.

The Southern Poverty Law Center lays out some of the solemn details of how the radical right was more successful in entering the political mainstream last year than half a century. Also, check out Dr. Walter D. Greason’s compiled materials from a class he taught on collective racial violence that can help us understand the danger that Charlottesville represents.

We have creativity, we have impact. Our numbers are huge, and our voices are LOUD. CraftNight has been rocking our first amendment rights with Protest Poster Painting Parties and other forms of Craftivism. Stay tuned for us to supply you with continued ways to unite for social justice and the planet at large.

But mainly we offer respite: an air-conditioned intermission from the 24-hour news tickers tickering tenacious tensions. Come in and have a cocktail, some art therapy, some goodness.

Ah the joys of the high seas, the wind in your hair, the spray of the ocean hitting your face as your craft bobs up and down on the waves of adventure! This is the time to set sail for destinations unknown, to board your schooner with a bag of lemons (avoid scurvy!) and an earthenware bottle of homemade rum, sing yo ho ho and wear fun little ripped up knickers and shoes with buckles on them.

If you fancy this lifestyle, or just dream of sailing the seven seas, this is a treasure to behold! It’s a fully operational lil’ BOAT with working sail that you can play with in the bathtub, or even set in the sink, or the river, or the lake! It floats! Um… it also features a red and white striped sail, and an optional embellishment featuring a skull and cross bones with a heart-shaped eyepatch.

So cast your fate to the wind, create your ship and then use it to boldly go where you’ve never gone before, this is such an impressive little kit, you’re gonna like the way it looks, I guarantee it.

Yellow Submarines! • March 22nd, 2017

I didn’t want anyone falling behind in their ocean studies, so we’re making submarines this week, yellow submarines, to be exact! They’re sturdy, they are very easy to put together, and what’s more: THEY FLOAT! This is the perfect accessory for replaying scenes from The Hunt for Red October or Das Boot in the bathtub! Be glad that you aren’t actually in charge of a nuclear-powered warship, and enjoy your bath!

Or, you know, get cerebral, set your sub on a shelf and let it be a reminder of the hidden parts of yourself that make you special, parts that are amazing and unknown that even you haven’t discovered yet!

How often are you invited to assemble your own watercraft? I’m thinking it’s not often, so treat yourself, get a delicious beverage from our fearless crew, visit the CraftNight rumpus room, and enjoy assembling your foam submersible!
