With all of the choices in the world, all of the people to meet, all of the emails to read and ignore, all of the things to do in the big city, the choice is usually to make no choice and take potshots at everything because daring to make something of your own will merely meet with scrutiny and everyone’s callous, spoiled, stagnated, bloviating naval-gazing critiques. Well no more of that, it’s time to kick fear in the teeth this week with LOVE!

I’m reaching out of this monitor, grabbing you by the MIND and asking you some some goddamn questions:

It occurred to me that CraftNight really has a LOT of magnet backings. This means we’re rolling up our sleeves and making DIY magnets for your refrigerator or wherever else in your life needs a magnet. Magnets are great, they let you do so much without any constraints. Here you have an object that affixes another object (usually paper) to a surface temporarily. Temporary as in NO commitment as in FREEDOM and no hassles and your life and YOUR choices. How great is that?

When you hand a piece of paper to someone, they have NO IDEA how long it was kickin’ around on your fridge before you finally got around to giving it to the recipient. The meaning and purpose of your busy and engrossing life is affirmed and bolstered by the magnet’s quiet fortitude. This means you should make some magnets at CraftNight as soon as possible to get started living a wildly unencumbered actuality that will enable you to blossom and excel.

We have flat, colorful foam and beads and shapes for which you can form your magnet. Here are some magnet ideas:

1.) Puppy Face Magnet
2.) Magnet that says “NOW” to remind you of what you need to do NOW. Maybe another one that says “SHEESH.”
3.) Bring a small photo and make a frame around it and boom it’s a magnet!
4.) Your own magnet poetry kit
5.) All bad words, just all of ’em
6.) Exquisite corpse magnets, lots of heads, torsos and feet: interchangeable!
7.) Annoying slogans or meaningful um, quotes.
8.) Foods: Donut, hot dog, sushi, noodles
9.) Giant capital letters (this seems to be trending)
10.) Squids, Owls, Deer, Birds, Llamas, Otters, Monkeys, Lemurs, Pandas, Bisons, Eagles, Ponies, Sharks, Lobsters, Cows, and Ducks

The “smörgåsbord” became internationally known in the year of 1939 when it debuted at the New York World’s Fair in the Swedish Pavilion. Today we use it to describe a table that features a variety of dishes. I am doing this for you this evening, but what we have is a smorgasbord of Halloween crafts. I do have quite a variety of options from years past, there’s something for everyone! So please visit the Craft Table, I’ll be playing my Marshmalloween music mix that I made especially for tonight. I will have some interesting candy treats for you to snack on, as always, and a movie on the Akbar Jumbotron, and generally a very positive experience overall.

Starbucks is rolling out its pumpkin spice latte ahead of time, Target is selling 45 different varieties of pumpkin candles at the store, Halloween stuff is creeping onto the shelves.
IT IS NOT FALL.
DO NOT BE FOOLED.
School might be back in session, the stores are stocking scarves and Ugg boots, but no semester of classes or fancy fall fashion can change the fact that Autumn is, like, a real thing, and it just hasn’t happened yet.
Don’t listen to those lazy people who say Los Angeles doesn’t have Autumn, it does.
Trust me, it just does.
Our little blue marble’s axial tilt has got to be perpendicular to the sun’s rays (not its usual 23º) for it to be TRUE Autumn. I mean come on, we’re still melting from the heat this week, keep the Earl Grey tea in the box and the cable knit sweater packed away for just a little bit longer!
Meanwhile, I’ve decided to have a grab bag night with a variety of projects that will keep you busy. If you missed some of our CraftNight Campfire Resort crafts, you can do one of those, or you can do a craft from the vault. CraftNight is in its 13th year, so when I say one from the vault, I really mean it. I have years of craft supplies, it’s ridiculous. I am making festive bundles for you to pick from, you’re gonna love it. In any case, pop in and tell us how you are, we like updates.
