BINGO Tonight • Phone Cozy Tomorrow • May 26th/27th, 2015

space_ham

This Wednesday, May 27th, 2015 from 9pm until midnight (or later) at Akbar, it’s CRAFTNIGHT!!! Project: Phone Cozy
$3 Processing fee, please
$4 Drink Specials, confidence in motion…

Extra Info bottom of this email about some thangs.

Now then…

Phones are great, they do a lot of great things, and also we should be smashing, forgetting and unplugging them and throwing them in the river. But despite my beliefs, we’re making phone cozies this week at CraftNight, because you probably need one. Everybody needs one.

You need a phone cozy because you’ll drop your phone, and a phone cozy will protect it from getting a nasty crack in it’s zillion dollar touch-sensitive screen.

You need a phone cozy because germs are all around us, and some of those germs will stick to your phone and get on your face or be transported back and forth from your dirty paws and ewwww, gross.

You need a phone cozy because you live in a world where your personal style says EVERYTHING about you and how much success and poise you’ve managed to cultivate in this cutthroat world of professionals. When you answer your phone in business meetings, colleagues will swallow back tears of jealousy and rage because they’ve never seen a phone cozy like yours. Your custom phone cozy will be noticed by the elite, they’ll take your hand and raise you up to the throne of riches and prosperity, and your rivals will be defeated.

If you want all of that, then get thee to Akbar where the spirits flow, the laughter is long, everyone is attractive, and your crafts are waiting.

See you at the Craft Table,

JP Craft Captain

Jumbo Clothspin • January 21st, 2015

chipz

TONIGHT! January 21st, 2015 from 9pm until midnight at Akbar, it’s CRAFTNIGHT!!!
Project: Jumbo Clothespin
$3 Processing fee, please
$4 Drink Special >>>> There’s mud in your eye-la, have a Lyla! (ginger beer and whiskey)
NEXT WEEK: Tuesday January 27th *** 8pm -10pm *** Bet Yer Bottom Bingo!

This week’s craft is a long time coming, I’ve ALWAYS wanted to do a jumbo clothespin craft, but jumbo clothespins are not cheap! Many times I’d lament the price and go “Ho Hum… someday.” Well SOMEDAY IS NOW!!!

CraftNight Lieutenant Vero LeBron and I found a shopping cart FULL of the things at discount prices in FOUR different colors! Such a thing is not likely to happen for quite some time, it’s not easy to find reasonably priced jumbo clothespins in the wild.

So what the heck do you do with these things? Well you decorate them! Then you keep stuff clipped together with them, like notes or cards or whatever. Some people get all crazy and actually mount the things upside down on a wooden bar on the wall so that they have a handy place to hang office papers or paintings that need to dry. Makes a very attractive photo holder also, sits on a table nicely!

You can cut letters out of felt and glue them onto your jumbo clothespin, you can stick gems and baubles to it, make pretty shapes from fabric or paper, or just draw all over it with permanent marker. As a bonus, you can use the jumbo clothespin to hang up any jumbo laundry you have around the house.

See you at the Craft Table,

JP Craft Captain

January 19th, 2011 • TIN CAN Craft

This Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 from 9pm – 12(ish) at Akbar, it’s CRAFTNIGHT!!!

Project: Tin Can Crafts • $2 processing fee, please

Drink Special: $4 Cosmopolitans

I bet you didn’t know that January 19th is Tin Can Day. Seriously, this was the actual day of the birth of the tin can, and the actual date that the tin can was patented in 1810! The first tin cans were so thick, you had to hammer at them like crazy. Like many “technologically advanced” inventions, it was a pain in the arse, but developments were still in the works.

In 1835, someone decided to put BEER in cans, and then pop-top cans appeared in 1959 making it a total party. Since then the cans have gotten thinner, we have fancy tools to open them, and the things inside of cans these days will blow your mind right out the window with all the leaves. If you don’t believe me, check out this blog of the weirdest stuff in cans, it’s got pictures! The trusty tin can is still entirely recyclable, corrosion resistant, and durable, and I think, very worthy of honor and merit.

So we’re going to do CAN crafts, we’ll have tin cans, and felt, foam, and glue, and some ideas, and we’re going to have a good ol’fashioned can-crafting party. You can make a string telephone, a pencil holder, a bank, a treat jar, salt and pepper shakers, vase, toothbrush holder, tea bag holder, etc.

And NO I’m not bringing tin snips or nails for you to punch holes in the cans. DRINKING and SHARP OBJECTS DO NOT MIX! But if you want to bring your own tin snips at your own risk, go ahead! If a fellow crafter wants to borrow your tools… smell their breath and ask them how many fingers you’re holding up, then use your best judgement.

Neither Akbar nor CraftNight is responsible if you slice through your finger, poke out your eye or remove someone’s spleen, you hear me? I can’t believe I actually had to type that, but California (The Golden State) is full of surprises… and court rooms.

I am gathering as many tin cans that I can find before CraftNight, if you have any that you don’t need, would you mind contacting me? I’ll take them off your hands! Here, you can use this handy contact form…

See you at the Craft Table,

JP Craft Captain
