Like already I’m wanting this post to look wayyyy fancier, but I’m doing too-many-things, so here is a detailed list of the upcoming CraftNights from now through November 24th, and yes, there WILL BE crafts in December!

Oct 27th – 9pm – COFFINS-N-OCCUPANTS
Paint and decorate a miniature wooden coffin AND THEN make a haunted clothespin creature friend that sleeps inside of it!
Nov 3rd – 8pm – CRAFTAOKE! • Fall Apple Crafts
First Wednesdays of every month are now EARLY BIRD crafts with Karaoke alongside! JP Craft Captain and KJ Teri are here to give you a night of art and song!
Nov 10th – 9pm – Nerdy Fall Critters
Assemble your very own woodland creature and then embellish it to your whim, adding features to make it truly yours!
Nov 17th – 9pm – Fall Sand Art
A “peel-n-sprinkle” type of craft that doesn’t ask very much of you. I think that’s appropriate since a lot is going on around this time of year and sometimes it’s all you can do to just sit down, have a cocktail, and make something that is free of complication. Leaves, turkeys, pumpkins, first come, first serve.
Nov 24th – NO CRAFTS! It’s Akbar’s Annual Pre-Thanksgiving Dance: PIE!

Will there be a SparkleBlob holiday puppet show in December?
Due to covid’s continuing stealthy and unpredictable ways, we’ve opted not to do the holiday puppet show this year.
We want to do some kinda thing, but it’s got to be something everyone feels relaxed and safe to both perform and attend.
Updates and details shall be forthcoming ASAP.
Enthusiasm and perseverance shall continue inordinately.
CraftNight, Gothtober, and the Annual Holiday show are all run by SparkleBlob, a 501c3 that cleverly tricks people into making and doing art in the city of Los Angeles.

How ya doin? It’s been a weird moody week. When things are not going my way, one or more of these three things solves up to half of every problem:
- Drink a BIG glass of water
- Take a nap
- Eat an apple
These actions/findings are not scientific or proven, it’s just a personal at-home philosophy currently in development. Lemme know if any of these remedies have worked for you.

CraftNight’s on hold, as the Akbar Rumpus Room is quiet, like so many of your favorite places. But guess what? Tomorrow I’m gonna LIVE on the ProjectQ Instagram teaching a lil’ drawing workshop at NOON! It’s all part of the ProjectQ Virtual Community Center Programming, lots of great learning to be found there, including self-haircutting workshops taught by my wife, Coral!
I’ll be sharing with you some basic drawing skills and techniques, stuff you can do with any ol’ piece of paper, pencil, and pen. Please tune in if you’re inclined, and thank you for watching!
So how ya coping? Do you have enough beans? I have enough beans, but only recently. Shit is very serious, and I know you know that, so I’m not going to get into it.
