Wintry Weather Crafts! • February 21st, 2018

What is UP with the weather?!? For those of you who are from the east coast, or up north, I know you’re laughing at us, but for those of us who have Southern California proclivities: IT’S COLD!!! This makes for a cozy CraftNight! Come and warm up with us, I was just about to pack up these snowflake crafts, and danged if I’m not going to feature them prominently because they translate this temperature flurry just perfectly!

These crafts are sort of a foam and tissue-oriented window snowflake design thinger, decorative, very appropriate for a window or window-like surface. When the sun hits it, it is quite fetching. I’ll be sure to have the heat on, hang out in our warm and welcoming atmosphere, craft your winter craft while sipping something that’ll keep you toasty.

The cavalcade of many craft choices continues! As you know, CraftNight is just about EVERY week, and while many of you show up to do the craft, I sometimes have leftovers. I save the crafting leftovers so that we can have these exciting summertimes of MANY choices!

As you know, usually I tote ONE project for the evening, but this entire month of July is dedicated to a variety of summertime choices that will please everyone! Take advantage of the exciting selection offered! I’m also putting out some newly acquired sparkly bits and pieces that you’re sure to take pleasure in using, I’ll see you tonight if you’re into it.

Elysian Park alone has had FIVE fires since June 30th, that’s a lot of fires!

We’ve entered fire season early, the June gloom has given way to parched skies warming tiny bundles of tinder in the forests just waiting to combust into trouble. When it’s like this, I feel like hosing off my brain, as if my thoughts are akin to the dry and flammable kindling of the southland’s thirsty hillsides.

To help this sizzling seventh month along, the crafts this week continue to be selections from the vault. You must understand: 15 years of CraftNight means, effectively, 750 nights of hosting crafts every single week. There have been leftover supplies from time to time, I don’t throw them away. I save them for summertime! This meansI have a sweeping assortment of projects for you to choose from, from old classics, to wonderful weirdness!

Will you make a clothespin airplane? A princess castle? Will you decorate a doorknob hanger? Do let’s find out! Cool off that rainless brain of yours, bring it in from outside, give it something creative to do, along with some shade and a refreshing cocktail. Treat your cerebellum oblongata to a night of delicious diversion.

Flower pots are on the docket for tonight, your very own terra cotta fantasy come true. There will be lots of paint, lots of gems, lovely bits and baubles for you to contentedly adhere to your finished gardening container. It’s a pretty deluxe setup, I’ve been giving you the extremely easy craft kits lately, this one’s a nice mixture of both structure and freeform, I feel like it’s a “two cocktail project” to be sure. I’ll hand you a flower pot, and then you pick out a brush, the colors you want to paint with, and the decor you want to glue to it once the paint has dried. This is an excellent “gift craft” in that once it’s complete, it’s the perfect gift for you or someone special.

It’s a gardening celebration! We’ve had such a great rainy season, it seems only right to coax forth vegetation and encourage growth. I mean, what’s May for, anyway? Soon it will be the halfway mark of the 12-month session we call a year… which feels incomprehensible to me. Let’s savor this 5th month, enjoy the breeze, the flowers, the swirling clouds and long light of extended days. Let’s plant some seeds and watch them grow!
