CRAFTNIGHT CAMPFIRE RESORT IS READY FOR AUGUST!

In the footsteps of Dali, Magritte, Miro, Man Ray, and more, we shall dive into the unconscious with some avant-garde crafts! These surrealist crafts/games require no strategy, no logical deductions and no specific skills!
This evening centers around freeing your mind from the constraints of discursive order. Camp Counselor, Andrew, will be leading this expedition into the provocation of bourgeois normalities.

For the Exquisite Corpse project, you’ll be shown how to produce drawings that lead you far far away from conscious intention.
For the Surrealist Collage project, you’ll use magazines to produce fantastic amalgamations of the delirious and grotesque!

SCREENING:
If that’s just too much for you this week, in cheeky and notable opposition to the spirit of surrealist games, we’re screening Troop Beverly Hills starring Shelly Long as a spoiled, 80s-era aristocrat who transforms herself into a warm and useful person! Look for Pia Zadora, Annette Funicello, Kareem Abdul Jabar and Cheech Marin! Look for Rodeo Drive, Spago’s and other LA Landmarks! Wax nostalgic for the display of overt, devout materialism that was the late 80s!
The CraftNight Store will have movie munchies for you to snack on as you watch this cherished camp classic next to our indoor resort campfire.

CRAFTNIGHT CAMPFIRE RESORT PERSEVERES!

It is the end of July, we are nearing the August month which means we are officially in the heart of midsummer. Visitors to Los Angeles will often say it’s hot in July, but they have no idea the true parching power that is August. In August you can’t buy bread at the market, by the time you get home, it’s toast!

We will have refreshing cocktails for you at the bar, and a refreshing craft coming to you from none other than our visiting CraftNight Campfire Resort Counselor and Yumster Friends Creator and Business Owner, Angie Cho! We will have the necessary supplies for you to do this craft, just bring yourself! Angie will show you how to use two different scraps of pretty paper to cut two halves of a heart, glue them together on card stock and voila! You will have a really nice set of heart cards.
Also: Our new camp store is OPEN! Get cotton candy flavored Pop Rocks and jawbreakers at inflated campstore prices! Look for new sundries every week!

And remember: We’ll have a special badge for this night, and you can collect them all by visiting our resort and doing the required activities to earn them! Collect them ALL!

Votive with FREE Electro-Candle! • July 22nd, 2015

CRAFTNIGHT CAMPFIRE RESORT IS THE BEST DAY OF YOUR NIGHT!

It only takes a spark,
to get a fire going,
And soon all those around
can warm up to it’s glowing…

We are not a church by any means, but the traditional purpose of lighting a votive candle is to send a good intention for yourself or someone in need. Back in the day, you’d saunter into the place, buy a candle for a buck, light it, say a prayer, set it and forget it. Your candle would illuminate the vestibule in lovely luminescence with all of the other prayer candles. It was like social media except nice, and pretty much anonymous.

You don’t have to be attending bible camp to light candles and send well wishes into the world.
You can be a regular person who wants to send the planet and its people some good vibes.
A radio signal coming from the heart might not have the most valiant veneer, but I believe that its intention contains a type of cosmic horsepower.
Introspection is also not a requirement of this week’s craft.
If you just like pretty candles and pretty colors, this is the night for you.

I have beautiful glass receptacles and tissue paper, you’ll plaster the glass using the tissue paper (and other crafting geegaws) with a design of your own. When you are finished, I will give you a FREE electro-candle for your votive holder, and the light will shine through the slightly translucent tissue paper and it will be SO PRETTY!
Why electro-candles and not real candles?
One of the things no one ever talks about when they talk about votive candles is their terrible history in burning shit down!!!

SPA NIGHT #1 = Nails and nail art! You will get your very own nail kit with fun stuff to decorate your own nails, or a friend’s nails! We became a resort for summer, so we’re doing it up mid-July! We’re going to relax in a really creative way, do our nails, watch Meatballs starring Bill Murray and take part in enriching workshops to nourish our souls.

Visiting Camp Counselor from Camp Teenie Mini Weenie, Alex Kenefick, will be leading Camp Trust Learning and Meaningful Development: the Leadership of Positivity and Sensitivity! Participants will receive a special badge from CraftNight Campfire Resort, don’t miss this exciting opportunity to get yours!

Description:
- We will be having some MAJOR BREAKTHROUGHS with our personal development in this edition of Craftnight’s Campfire Resort. Get ready to do some drawing, gluing, and sprucing of your hearts, minds, and your personalities. Prepare to learn important leadership skills and maybe even star in a skit! You are guaranteed to become a more well-adjusted and positive bar patron after these exercises. You will need to complete at least three activities to earn the badge for this evening.

I expect this evening to be very meaningful, very positive, very trustworthy, so make sure you visit, it’s going to be lots of fun! Sit around the campfire and reflect.

CRAFTNIGHT CAMPFIRE RESORT MARCHES ON!

As ever, CraftNight continues to be a source of inspiration for high society ideals, especially since we turned into a resort for the summer season. Tonight we embrace coasters! The very first coasters, or beermats, or whatever you wanna call ’em, were made in the 1880s, and the function of coasters has not changed. Basically, they protect surfaces, like your table, from moisture. Tonight’s coasters are made from cork, which means they are pretty high-end, and are sure to impress guests when you put these on display.

Take your handy-dandy coaster, and adorn it with felt, OR use magazine scraps (we will have plenty) to Mod Podge them and make them be awesome. Mod Podge is sort of like glue, and sort of like not, it’s sticky, but when it dries, it forms a protective cover over the scraps you’ve decided to immortalize.

We have Jan Whetstone to thank for Mod Podge, a substance that we officially decided is one of the most feminist craft supplies you can use. Jan mixed up the recipe for Mod Podge in her garage in the 60s, she was an advocate for women’s rights in the business world, and developed the most widely used, versatile substance for decoupage in history. She passed away in 2013 leaving behind a legacy of wonderful craft recipes and products, and we will salute her tonight by making coasters!

Lastly, we will have very special guest and camp counselor, Alex Kenefick, presenting some camp exercises, if you complete them, you’ll get the best badge yet!
