9pm to midnight or later it’s CRAFTNIGHT!!!
****Project: FALL Equinox Sun Catchers!

*****$3 Donation Please
******$4 Drink specials! Akbar: See What We Mean

It’s FALL!!! Right now, you have the most Autumn enjoyment before you: the most pumpkin spice everything, the most football, the most fall clothing, the most harvest vegetables, the most haunted houses and scary movies and pumpkin patches, the most bonfires, the most colorful leaf changes, the most county fairs, and the most fall food recipes. ‘Tis the beginning of seasonal autumnal splendor, a time of both abundance and wistfulness. Is Autumn a beginning or an ending? Can it be both? The daylight hours shrink, the darkness becomes more prevalent, yet there is also a spark. A glimmer of your creaturely nature may cause you to pause and say “I do believe I’m connected to it all!”

For pondering just that type of thought process, and to connect you with the seasonality of being human, we have really excellent Fall Suncatchers! You get one corny cartoony style one, and another hipster style geometric one! You also get a suction cup for hanging your craft in the window! This is lowbrow stained glass (plastic), it’s very uncomplicated, you’ll paint these with special suncatcher paint I ordered especially for this night! It’s easy and painty, you can talk and do this at the same time, it’s not a concentration breaker!

See you at the Craft Table,

JP Craft Captain

Disaster Preparedness: 8pm • Apple Necklaces: 9pm • Sept 13th, 2017

~~~~RED CROSS DISASTER PREPAREDNESS CLASS 8pm (before CraftNight) Click here for More INFO and RSVP!
This Wednesday, September 13th at Akbar from 9pm to midnight or later it’s CRAFTNIGHT!!!
****Project: Alluring Apple Bracelets!
*****$3 Donation Please
******$4 Drink specials! Akbar: Be Part of Something Fabulous,  your local Gay Bar!
It’s HERE it’s HERE! Selena Vazquez from the Red Cross is coming to do a one hour presentation on disaster preparedness at 8pm before CraftNight! It’s FREE to the public, and afterward, it’s CraftNight! There will be handouts, and information about stuff like earthquakes, flooding, and more! Please RSVP if you’ll be there! Click Here!
Now then: We’re making apple bracelets, because it’s apple season. It’s almost Autumn, no it is NOT Autumn yet. But we’re right there on the edge, just teetering, just tottering on the edge of summer’s end, with the arrival of the Fall equinox palpably close to it’s pumpkin-flavored start date! We can hardly wait, but as we wait… we’re making apple bracelets with cool metal apple charms and fun translucent plastic beads. Featuring red, green and gold apples, this is quite the pre-fall fashion accessory!
This project is quite dainty and pretty. No one’s going to think you’re doing football tryouts if you wear this little ditty on your wrist. You might even have to over explain yourself, or wave your arms wildly to make a point, because apple bracelets aren’t particularly known for being part of one’s “power play” wardrobe. I think this is a terrible mistake, because apples are badass, hearty fruits, and make a fine totem for one navigating the rat race’s many pitfalls. Apples are an American icon, they go in pies, they fit in a lunch sack perfectly, they make great cider, and more!
The average apple tree lives 100 years! And apples are really good for your brain’s mental alertness because they’re packed with boron, which aides in mental clarity and bone health. All in all, apples promote longevity and strength, so if someone doesn’t vibe with your apple bracelet, don’t let ’em phase you, they don’t understand the power of the illustrious, robust pomme de terre.
See you at the Craft Table,
JP Craft Captain
Assortment Crafts • September 14th, 2017
tell_me_more
This Wednesday, September 14th, 2016 from 9pm until midnight (or later) at Akbar, it’s CRAFTNIGHT.
Project: Assortment Crafts! Coloring or assemblage!
$3 Processing fee, please
$4 Drink Specials: Akbar, for Successful Living!
>>>CraftNight LAB coming up September 21st! Earlier! Fancier! 12 Spots Available! Keep Reading…
Variety is important to your creativity routine. Doing different crafts keeps your interest peaked and your mental and physical faculties SHARP! That’s why I’m offering up more treasures from the vault in September.
  • I’ve got some NEW coloring sheets I found that will turn your mind inside out with their exciting complexity!
  • There are also 3-D felt kits that are truly wondrous! The box makes the kit look like some tiny little thing, when in actuality, the project is the size of a small pillow! Amaze!
  • Also I’ve got some scratch canvases, some black velvet mini posters for coloring, and really just a lot of cool stuff.
September is the last month before we begin the last quarter of the year, so let’s savor these last weeks of summer before the equinox kicks in, as the tomato harvest dwindles, and the apples are at their tastiest. The lowriders have returned to cruise Whittier Boulevard, nocturnal urban skunks galumph up and down Echo Park’s neighborhood street curbs, and the churro man in Boyle Heights fries and distributes churros as he whistles the same tune his grandfather used to whistle.
CraftNight would like a moment to welcome the Rams back to LA, and their first game was just terrible, but whatever. If you don’t care about football, CraftNight would also like to welcome the brand new spire on Wilshire Grand Center, making it a whole 81 feet taller than the US Bank Building! If you don’t care about football or buildings, continue reading below, maybe something will catch your eye.
See you at the Craft Table,
JP Craft Captain
Feminist Acting Class starting this Friday at the Womens Center for Creative Work
Feminist Acting Class is a series of experiments to determine if the form of an acting class can be made feminist, in addition to the content. Part art project, part intellectual experiment and part dynamic physical practice, Feminist Acting Class wants to expand the roles for women, transgender and nonbinary people in theatre and the way that we approach these roles. Taught by Gina Young: queer feminist playwright, director and performer whose work has been seen all over the US and Europe!
TONIGHT! Star Foam Door Hanger! September 7th, 2016
cuppa_robotz
TONIGHT! September 7th, 2016 from 9pm until midnight (or later) at Akbar, it’s CRAFTNIGHT.
Project: Star-shape door hanger!
$3 Processing fee, please
$4 Drink Specials at Akbar: Live in your world. Play in ours!
We give away TONS of free information to social media sites, public spaces, and other places that have cookies, cameras, satellites, bugs, biometrics and god knows what else. NOT TONIGHT!!!! Keep people out or keep yourself in with a Star-shaped door hanger made by YOU at CraftNight!
CraftNight supports your right to have secret meetings, political thoughts, artistic ideas, experimental labs, subversive dance studios, wild sex dungeons, basically: exploring on your own time in your own space to be anything you want however you want to do it without anyone intruding on that process!
We have the doorknob hangers, they are foamy, friendly and fantastic. We will also have all the things for you to glue to it, so very many things! Lots of it is shiny, all of it is colorful.
Hang up your doorknob sign. Retreat into a space of your own and just be a person. You should support your fellow person’s wish to also not be monitored by you, and everyone else in the world. You can write “Come on in” or “Get the hell outta here and don’t bother me!”
It’s a step in the right direction, it costs 1/500th of the price of the new iPhone 7 and works a zillion times better.
See you at the Craft Table,
